Techneat: Lamma launch for new Microcast

Techneat Engineering introduced its new Microcast 250 at this Lamma 2009. The new, larger-capacity version of the company’s well proven applicator can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of potato growers’ granular nematicide applications.
Easily mounted onto bed tillers or destoners, the Microcast 250 has a single, easy-to-load, low-profile hopper, with a huge 250-litre capacity to achieve high work rates.
The innovative Robydome electronic rate control system assures more accurate metering from the twin-cartridge units, with distribution to six outlets to give even coverage. The Microcast continuously adjusts the granule application rate to the monitored ground speed, without the inaccuracy or inconvenience of a land-wheel mechanical drive system.
“Since the Microcast does not require a land-wheel drive, it can be quickly fitted in the most convenient place on a planter or tiller,” Tom Neat of Techneat said. “There are fewer wearing parts, ensuring a very high level of accuracy, consistency and durability.”
Optional extras include auto on/off to simplify operation and a GPS device for precise control. The Microcast utilises the well-proven Techneat Apcal Cartridge metering system, with pre-calibrated, long-life ceramic cartridges for all brands of granular nematicide.
Also on show at Lamma for the first time this year will be the new high-capacity Outcast V2 slug pellet applicator. This sprayer-mounted machine has proven highly popular with potato and vegetable growers.
Using a series of satellite distribution heads mounted along the spray boom, the Outcast V2 can achieve a far more even distribution of pellets across a full 24m or 36m boom width to achieve better control of slug pests without the need for an additional pass through the crop.
