A new four-rotor rotary rake has been introduced by Pöttinger. The flagship EuroTop 1252C model has been designed from the ground up utilising the compoany’s own components and assemblies. Incorporated into this new model is a completely new chassis improving manoeuvrability and allowing transport speeds of up to 50km/hr.
Offering a hydraulically adjustable raking width of 8.0–12.5m, this four-rotor model proves itself to be more versatile than many other four-rotor rakes by offering an infinitely adjustable range of working width.
Pöttinger’s UK product specialist, Shaun Groom, said: “Many competitive four-rotor rakes can only rake as narrow as 10m, making too a large a windrow in heavier British conditions for balers and forage wagons where the tractor has to straddle. The flexibility with the new EuroTop 1252C allows the operator to row up for balers and forage wagons plus the very largest of self-propelled forager harvesters. This feature gives far greater flexibility doing away with the need for an additional twin rotor rake.”
A unique hybrid drive and folding system keeps costly, non-productive downtime to a minimum when changing fields and travelling from one raking job to the next.
The hybrid drive system consists of an on-board hydraulic drive system that takes care of supplying power to the front rotors, with mechanical drive delivered to the rear rotors.
This hybrid concept has a couple of benefits: first, it reduces the amount of drive shafts required to just four on the entire machine; second, it allows the front rotors to be lowered onto the central chassis enabling a transport height of less than 4m to be achieved without the need to remove tine arms from any of the rotors (on many competitive machines this can require 16 tines arms – four from each rotor – to be removed to achieve such a transport height.
“In common with all Pöttinger EuroTop Rakes, the 1252C features TopTech rotors manufactured in house by Pöttinger,” Mr Groom added. “These highly durable units feature class-leading cam track diameters of 42cm, ensuring the smoothest and quietest running on the market today. This coupled with a bearing support distance of 50cm these units are built to withstand years of raking in heavy British crops”.
