New Holland has brought the American-built T9000 tractor range to the UK to provide its customers with the highest levels of power. Two models, the 389hp rated (428hp max) T9030 and the 492hp rated (541hp max) T9050 will be offered here.
Both features impressive torque rise and power growth engine characteristics, a quiet and luxurious cab and an inherent reliability designed to make short work of large acreages.
The T9000 range uses 12 litre, 24-valve, six-cylinder engines on the T9030. The engine is Tier III compliant and capable of running on high biodiesel blend fuels. A 40% torque rise is available with up to 54hp power growth allowing the T9030 to tackle tough conditions and steep terrain without downshifting, providing customers with the power to operate the biggest implements.
The 492hp T9050 model features New Holland’s compound turbo technology to boost performance and fuel efficiency. Energy from the exhaust gases is used to drive the turbo, which boosts power and torque, but even more energy is extracted from exhaust gases by a second, power turbine downstream from the turbocharger.
The power turbine recovers energy that is normally lost through the exhaust system and recycles it into engine power. Compared to a similar powered no turbo compound engine, the T9050 offers up to 3% fuel efficiency gains by providing extra driving torque without increasing fuel consumption.
The T9000’s 16 x 2 powershift transmission features Auto Field and Auto Road modes for optimum tractor performance and fuel economy.
Auto Field automatically changes down gear to maintain engine speed and torque as load increases, changing up as the load decreases. In Auto Road mode, the transmission automatically up shifts and downshifts to leave the operator to concentrate on the road.
The powershift transmission also features electronic pulse-width-modulated clutch control to provide ultra-smooth shifts.
T9000 customers will work with the largest implements available, so New Holland has provided the range with a hydraulic system that delivers huge flow capacity to meet the needs of high-demand implements. A high-flow variable displacement 151 lit/min pump is standard, which provides oil for up to five remote valves and the optional three point linkage.
The drawbar is an integral part of the chassis, improving load distribution while avoiding point loading in the chassis. The centre pull optimises weight transfer which ensures that the load is spread evenly between the axles.
A heavy solid bar design and thick support plate is complemented by a wide side-swing angle to reduce front frame side loading and improve ride quality.
For long days in the field, the T9000 cab offers a quiet comfortable environment that enables the operator to remain productive and alert. As befits a tractor of this size, a clear panoramic view is provided thanks to the large single piece windscreen and unobstructed side and rear windows.
The comfortable, wide, air-suspension seat and armrest control console swivel in unison, up to 20 degrees, allowing the operator a clear view to the rear without straining. The grey leather covered seat uses the AutoComfort active suspension system that automatically adjusts the dampening rate for the smoothest ride.
As expected from a New Holland flagship tractor, the T9000 bristles with latest technology to ensure that productivity is always at the highest levels.
The standard IntelliView Plus II display features a large, 10.4-inch colour touch-screen displaying and controlling all tractor functions, while the Headland Turn Sequencer allows complex manoeuvres to be recorded and repeated with just the touch of a button, saving time and improving accuracy.
New Holland’s IntelliSteer system is an integrated guidance solution built into every T9000, offering the highest level of accuracy and the widest range of applications. The system is integrated into the design of the machine and is controlled via the IntelliView Plus II monitor.
The Navigation Controller which provides three axis terrain compensation for pitch, roll and yaw, controls a valve in the hydraulic steering system and ensures parallel passes when working either in a straight line, on curves or across undulating ground.
A lock-down, anti-vandal package is standard on the T9000 Series tractors. The package enables the operator to lock the grill screen, transmission and hydraulic fill caps, and the battery service door. The fuel tank is also equipped with a lockable fuel cap.
