McCormick: MC tractors benefit from Tier 3 update

Mccormick has added some performance-improving features to its four-cylinder MC models, while also switching over to the latest green Tier 3 engines.

Perkins 1104D-44T engines are still used for the range, but tuned to the latest emissions standards. A cooling system to increase the density of incoming air is now used for the turbocharger system on all three models, while the highest-powered version changes from standard to high-pressure common-rail fuel injection.

The net result is that all three models have more power. The MC105 T3 (which replaces the current MC95) is up 12% at 101hp; the MC115 T3 (replacing the MC105) gets 8% more power at 110hp; while the new range-leading MC130 T3 (replacing the MC115) has 126hp, a 7% increase.

According to McCormick technical specialist Paul Wade, the long wheelbase specification of the current range-topping model now applies to all three versions, so the MC105 T3 and MC115 T3 both have a 95mm longer wheelbase.

“There’s a useful improvement in road and field stability,” he added, “especially with heavy mounted implements, and the MC130 T3 can be equipped with independent front suspension.”

For this size of tractor, the McCormick MC has a high specification that includes a power shuttle and four-speed powershift for the 16×12 transmission, with the option of creep ratios for extra-slow working speeds.
