Massey Ferguson’s MF8600 Series, which includes the MF8690 that was recently named Tractor of the Year 2009, went on show for the first time in the UK at the Lamma Show. Massey Ferguson offers two distinct levels of specification for this top technology series – the MF 8600 and the MF 8600 Excellence models.
All the tractors are powered by the highly advanced Agco Sisu Power Citius e3, SCR engines. These provide at least a 5% saving in fuel and the cleanest exhaust emissions, with significantly reduced NOx and Particulate Matter (PM) levels compared with other designs.
Standard versions of the MF 8650, MF 8660, MF 8670 and MF 8680 feature new four-point OptiRide cab suspension, Datatronic 4 Control Centre Display (including video input and ISOBus compatibility), new Dyna-VT transmission with Dyna-TM control and four-pillar Panorama cab.
MF 8600 Excellence models are equipped to the highest specification as standard including all the above features as well as SpeedSteer, OptiRide Plus Dynamic cab suspension and 5,000kg capacity integrated front linkage system (IFLS). They are also supplied Auto-Guide ready as well as having climate control air conditioning.
All MF 8600 Series tractors are equipped with a new heavy duty version of the renowned Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission. This further increases fuel efficiency and control with the new Dynamic Tractor Management (DTM) system, which automatically adjusts the engine speed for optimum operation and ultimate fuel economy.
Massey Ferguson has developed a completely new, supremely quiet four-pillar cab for the MF 8600 Series. Superb control and monitoring of the tractor is achieved easily with the new ‘Control Arm and ‘Datatronic Control Centre’ Display.
Ultimate comfort is offered by the new OptiRide cab suspension system. For additional comfort is the award-winning OptiRide Plus dynamic cab suspension, which provides a 30% increase in comfort is standard on MF 8690 and Excellence models and option on other MF 8600s.
To ease operation and manoeuvrability is the novel SpeedSteer function, which is standard on the Excellence models. This allows operators to adjust the ratio of steering wheel turns to the front wheel movement.
All the new MF 8600 Series tractors are built on an entirely new heavy duty chassis structure with factory fitted fully Integrated Front Linkage (IFLS) on Excellence models, which is an option on the others. This can also be equipped with a new front PTO drive.
Continuing with the high specification is a new heavy-duty front axle that is equipped with QuadLink suspension as standard on all tractors. This not only improves safety and comfort, but also increases traction in the field. At the rear the chassis is fitted with the latest generation, high capacity transaxle design that provides an impressive 12,000kg lift capacity on the three point linkage.
