Due to the demand for its 3.00m, 3.45m and 4.00m rigid SR Drills, Claydon released a new 4.00m folding SR drill at Lamma 2009.
The new machine has all the benefits you’d expect from a Claydon Direct Drill, including the capability to establish many different seed types directly into stubble, min-tilled or fully cultivated soils. This gives you the opportunity to save thousands on your diesel bill, and the capacity to use your staff far more productively, making it the ideal tool for beating the credit crunch and impending recession.
All of the SR direct drills feature the company’s patented crop establishment technique, which removes compaction from the soil by creating a drainage channel and shattering effect underneath the seeded zone. This helps reduce the chances of the seed rotting in wet conditions, while providing space for the roots to grow.
In independent trials, the Claydon patented process has proven to increase yields by about 10% when compared to traditional plough-based and min-till systems (this margin is far higher than some other direct drills on the market).
The staggered stone release tines on the machine give high trash and ground clearance, making it extremely difficult to cause a blockage and making it the perfect tool for all soil types.
It will be possible to establish about 3,000 acres in a season with a 4m folding SR drill, which has a power requirement of 200hp. Some may say that this is a high power requirement, but years of research by the Claydon family has proven that it is necessary to achieve the results you would expect from their machines.
