Tey Farm Systems, of Great Tey, Essex, has been appointed UK distributor for the Turbodan range of Danish-built trailer/dryers.
Essentially a floor store on wheels, complete with grain stirrers, burner and fan, the trailers are available with capacities of 15, 18, or 25t. A 25t machine is claimed to be capable of drying 300t in a 24-hour period.
Filled by a telehandler, drying takes about one hour to get from 19.0-14.5%, with a further half-hour of cooling, if necessary. The trailer can then be tipped empty.
The tractor PTO is used to drive the trailer’s fan and a generator to provide electrical power. The burner runs on diesel from a tank mounted in the trailer chassis.
As well as cereals, the trailer drier is said to be extremely flexible and can be used to dry other materials like woodchips.
The trailers cost from £49,000 new (November 2008) and are said to keep their value extremely well.
