Pöttinger: Larger Terrasem drills are contenders for large-scale farmers

Heralding a further move into large-scale arable equipment for the family-owned Austrian business, Pöttinger has recently released its new C6 Terrasem trailed minimal tillage seed drill.
Following on from the huge success of the already well-established 3m and 4m Terrasem models, this new C series model brings a new ergonomic layout and eco-efficient design features aimed at reducing the power, fuel and time needed to drill large acreages.
Large arable farmers, contractors and contract farming companies will appreciate not only the ease of operation, but the minimal routine maintenance, simple calibration and low running costs. In line with Pöttinger policy, wearing parts are hardened at the company’s in-house hardening centre, ensuring wearing parts remain competitively priced.
The C6 offers several unique new features, as well as making good use of the elements from the 3m and 4m models that helped give Pöttinger a healthy market share.
The 510mm diameter cultivating discs allow for market leading trash incorporation, while new hydraulically adjustable levelling boards and 425mm wide staggered press wheels ensure the best possible seed bed preparation in direct, cultivated or ploughed ground.
A completely new Pöttinger designed and manufactured metering system with a single 48-row pneumatic distribution head has reduced the number of components and moving parts required.
There is also a completely new sowing coulter design that features a double disc coulter set-up attached via a parallelogram mounting. This allows full use of adjustable individual coulter pressure up to a maximum of 130kg to ensure even and constant loading of coulters and maintaining an even sowing depth across all contours at a traditional 12.5cm row spacing.
Fully adjustable press wheels follow the coulters, with the operator able to tailor their position to suit ground conditions and ensure the best of finishes in conjunction with a newly designed and mounted following harrow.
Pöttinger’s Artis control system takes care of things in the cab, giving the operator up-to-date operating information and optional machine commands. Isobus connectivity comes as standard with the Terrasem C6, allowing full integration with compatible tractors.
The Terrasem C6 will shortly be joined by the larger C8 and C9 models with working widths of 8m and 9m respectively.
