Vicon: New wrappers handle medium square bales

Vicon has introduced two new square bale wrappers, the BW1104 and BW1604, that are suitable for wrapping medium-sized square bales.
The BW1104 is a tractor-mounted wrapper and the BW1604 is a trailed machine. Both can handle bales 80cm wide and 60-90cm high, with a maximum length of 180cm.
Manual and computer wrapping control systems are available.
Compared to the manual-control version, the computerised system offers a fully automated, push-button wrapping process. A hydraulic cutter and remote control are part of the standard specification.
Both models share the same wrapping table construction – four, ribbed steel rollers. It is a concept that creates a smooth, even rotation of the bale, allowing effective sealing during the wrapping process. The table’s design and low operating height also affords gentle handling of the bale as it is tipped off after wrapping.
Vicon UK Technical Manager Tim Baker said that the new wrappers were based on components and design elements already found in the company’s round baler wrapper line-up.
“Both these models are aimed at growers that don’t need the high-capacity, greater-cost or complexity of a twin-satellite wrapper,” he said.

Intelligent wrapping
A revolutionary new way of managing the application of bale wrap film has been developed by the Kverneland Group. Called IntelliWrap, it will be a standard feature on all fixed and variable chamber BalePack (baler/wrapper combinations) machines.
IntelliWrap uses clever software and sophisticated monitoring to allow the operator to choose exactly how many layers of film are applied, offering the potential to save on film costs. Sophisticated electronics manage the process to apply the desired number of film layers, regardless of bale size or whether using 3D or conventional wrapping modes.
For example, IntelliWrap allows the operator to choose five or seven film layers, instead of six or eight, and the BalePack’s wrapping software ensures the chosen number of film layers are evenly applied to the bale with just one push of a button.
Regardless of bale diameter, the specified number of layers is evenly applied, making the wrapping process faster and easier for the operator.

The IntelliWrap process:
1, Set the number of layers (for example, five);
2, The computer ensures the bale is automatically covered with the first three layers at 67% overlap;
3, After the first three layers are applied, the speed of the wrapping table is increased to finish the bale;
4, Two more layers with a 50% overlap are then applied, giving a five-layer wrap.
